Did you know that in Indiana one in five children are hungry? Ocean Prime Indianapolis is helping to fight that cause by celebrating with carrot cake. In celebration of National Carrot Cake Day (February 3), Ocean Prime will donate $1 from every slice sold February 3 through 9* of their signature Ten Layer Carrot Cake to No Kid Hungry. $1 is the equivalent of 10 meals for children struggling with hunger in America.

Using proven, practical solutions, No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger today by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. When we all work together, we can make sure kids get the healthy food they need. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength. To date, Ocean Prime has raised 130,000 meals for No Kid Hungry, the campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength. “We are excited to again partner with No Kid Hungry and support such an important cause,” says Mitch Miller, Vice President of Ocean Prime. “We have extended the Ten Layer Carrot Cake promotion this year from a day to a week in hopes of significantly increasing our donation. This is just one way we can support No Kid Hungry, with the enthusiasm of our associates and generosity of our guests, to help make sure that every child in America gets the food they need to learn and thrive.”

This decadent dessert features ten layers of delicious carrot cake covered in smooth, cream cheese icing. The slice is finished with a drizzle of pineapple syrup, whipped cream and a mint garnish. Pricing varies by location.

Funds raised support No Kid Hungry’s work to connect vulnerable children to effective nutrition programs like School Breakfast and Summer Meals, creating public-private partnerships that work together to identify and break down barriers to giving children access to meals, and teaching low-income families how to stretch their food budgets and cook healthy, affordable meals.

“We are excited to team up with Ocean Prime in the effort to end child hunger,” says Diana Hovey, Senior Vice President at No Kid Hungry. “The No Kid Hungry campaign has connected kids with over 775 million meals and with the help of Ocean Prime, we can make no kid hungry a reality in the U.S.”
