The Harbour at the Garage at Bottleworks - Fish and Chips straight out of the UK

Have you ever tried traditional British fare? When you visit The Harbour at The Garage Food Hall, you’ll feel like you’re at a traditional fish and chip shop straight out of the UK.

The Harbour’s owner Stuart Robertson, also owner and general manager of the popular Mass Ave restaurant and bar MacNiven’s, proudly brings the iconic tastes of his homeland to The Garage at Bottleworks District. It’s just one of the many independently owned restaurants serving up unique and authentic cuisine to garage-goers.

With more than 35-years’ experience in the restaurant industry, we were excited to learn more about Stuart’s inspiration for The Harbour and why he was drawn to The Garage, Indy’s first food hall.

Why is The Garage Food Hall important to boosting downtown Indianapolis?
Downtown Indy was already booming. I've lived and worked downtown since 1996 and the growth has been amazing since then. What The Garage does is bring something unique and exciting; an incredible and welcome addition to all that is Mass. Ave, Downtown Indy, Fountain Square, the Wholesale District and more.

When customers visit you at The Garage, what is one thing they need to try or buy from you?
Well, besides Scotch Eggs, we will have a selection of very unique items, a variety of fish to fry, different batters to choose from, vegetarian options, oddities and International items from all over the world. The confectionary side of the Chippy will also have unique international chocolate, candy bars and more. And we're not afraid to deep fry those, too!

Outside of your own business, what maker are you most excited to try at The Garage?
Hmm, that's a tough one because they’re all so good. I'm a huge Lick Ice Cream fan, but I'm also looking forward to those places I haven't tried yet. It's the atmosphere that excites me most. It’s been amazing to watch everything come together inside the food hall.

How is The Garage making a difference for your business? How is it taking you to the next level?
It's the perfect spot for what I wanted to achieve with The Harbour. I have looked at a few locations around town for the Chippy, but when this came along I jumped on it. I may have been one of the first people banging on the doors to talk with the developers about being part of The Garage! It's ideal for our new concept.
