The IndyGrown HARVEST RIDE presented by Purdue Extension - Marion County and Flatland Kitchen is your chance to spend Saturday, September 24 cycling Indianapolis, eating treats from local businesses and touring urban farms--and then top it all off with an on-farm dinner prepared by a local chef with farm fresh ingredients.

Join us Friday, the day before the tour, for a bike safety check up at Bicycle Garage Indy Downtown and to pick up your participant packet, which includes an urban farm passport and market tote bag designed by the local artists at Flatland Kitchen

Participants will fill their farm passport on Saturday afternoon by visiting three to six of these urban farms while biking, depending on the tour selected:

  • South Circle Farm

  • Growing Places Indy at Chase Legacy Center

  • Growing Places Indy at Public Greens

  • CUE Farm at Butler University

  • Pleasant Street Produce

  • Big City Farms

  • Fitness Farm

Choose from three Harvest Ride routes on Saturday, September 24:

LONG ROUTE begins at 12:00 and visits Fitness Farm, CUE Farm at Butler University, South Circle Farm, Pleasant Street Produce, Big City Farms and Growing Places Indy at Chase Legacy Center.

NORTHSIDE ROUTE begins at 2:00 at visits Fitness Farm, CUE Farm at Butler University, and Growing Places Indy at Public Greens.

DOWNTOWN ROUTE begins at 1:00 and visits Big City Farms, Growing Places Indy at Chase Legacy Center, Pleasant Street Produce and South Circle Farm.

Bikers will be greeted at each farm by the urban farmers who own and manage these productive, beautiful spaces. You will learn how a parking lot turned into a market farm, meet the couple who are converting vacant lots around their home into lush, healthy ground, and hear many other stories from these bold urban agriculture entrepreneurs.

While on the route, you will be guided by a team of bike-knowledgable volutneers supported by Bicycle Garage Indy from who can help navigate the intersections and fix a flat if it occurs. At various farms, bikers will eat treats from local food businesses like The Garden Tablejuicery and Wildwood Market

Following the bike tour, everyone will sit down together at Fitness Farm for a freshly prepared meal by local chef Rob Gaston, owner for Fond. His dinner will use ingredients from the urban farms you visited and other sustainble farms in Central Indiana.
