Devour Indy is back in action for Summerfest and we caught up with Colleen Rose, the queen of Devour Indy. We asked her take on 5 different questions and here are her answers. Take a quick read to get to know her and why Devour is great for our community. But don't take it from us... take it from her and the over 100 restaurants involved in Devour Indy!

Edible Indy: Tell me about SummerFest 2022 and why it is so important for us to support our local restaurants? 

Colleen Rose: Restaurants are such a large part of our community, and while our restaurants are bouncing back from the pandemic, they are facing new hurdles like supply chain issues and inflation. Devour Indy Summerfest is a way to show up for restaurants by coming in and supporting their business and their employees.

EI: How has Devour helped restaurants during this time of inflation? 

CR: Devour gives chefs a chance to create a special menu. It’s a great time to try out new menu items and also adapt to changing market prices as well. Not only that, but Devour exposes customers to new restaurants and also the special menus and value pricing gives them a reason to go to their favorite restaurants as well.

EI: What are you most excited for this year with SummerFest? 

CR: I am excited to try restaurants I haven’t tried before, and also to try new things at restaurants I go to all the time. Devour is great for getting me out of my culinary comfort zone! My other favorite part is getting to meet the people who make up these restaurants. It builds such a connection that makes me revisit them after Devour ends.

EI: What are your tips for making the most of Devour during SummerFest? 

Tip #1: Look at all the menus and use the search options if you need help narrowing it down! There are so many great places to try and with so many options, there is something for every person to enjoy.

 

Tip #2: Don’t feel like you have to limit yourself to dinner. There are restaurants offering brunch and lunch options too as well as carryout.

 

Tip #3: Plan ahead and be kind to the staff! Devour can bring in a big rush, so be sure you make reservations if possible, please be patient with the staff, and make sure to tip your servers.

EI: Tell me a little bit about the Society Insurance Staff Appreciation awards and how to nominate for Summerfest 2022? 

CR: Our Society Insurance Staff Appreciation Award is one of my favorite things about Devour. The staff at each of these restaurants are who make Devour possible, and this award lets us recognize the employees go over and above expectations to deliver outstanding customer service or team support to make a positive influence on their restaurant. Our sponsor, Society Insurance, awards the Front of House and Back of House winner a prize to recognize their effort.
