What We Love: One of Winchester favorite lunch spots and located in the same historic building as the local theatre. Everett’s is most notably known for the made from scratch daily specials and sandwiches.   The entire menu is taste bud worthy however we hear the House Cuban, Reuben Sandwich and Trudy's Chicken Salad are local favorites. Don’t forget to try homemade pies!

The Cook family has owned the land since 1939. Everett Cook initially used the land to grow corn for popcorn. Years later, third-generation Peter Cook was born, and he developed a fascination with bison.

After becoming a member of the National Bison Association along with extensive research and, of course, convincing his father that raising this seemingly wild animal was a sensible idea, the Cook family got their first 30 bison in December of 1998, thus establishing Cook's Bison Ranch.

Their tours are very popular amongst visitors and include a viewing of the Cook's Bison Ranch History video, a brief lecture on the North American Bison, a Question-and-Answer session, and a guided Wagon Tour into the bison herd to see and feed them.

Cook’s Bison Ranch hosts scheduled group tours for school field trips, motor coach groups, family excursions, church groups, and civic groups.

Open tours are also conducted Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, with tours departing on the hour. Open tours run from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

What We Love: Fireside Café Owners, Marsha Gill-Dunker and Corey Dunker, returned to Corey’s hometown of Shipshewana to follow their dream of owning a restaurant. Their dream became a reality two years ago when they opened Fireside Cafe inside Yoder’s Shopping Center. They are known for their Applewood slow-smoked in-house meats and beans (Corey does the smoking) and a variety of made-from-scratch recipes.
