Why We Love It: Locally Grown Gardens is classically-trained chef Ron Harris' culinary foray into food markets and restaurants in one. With a rotating seasonal menu, legendary sugar cream and blueberry pies this unique Indianapolis enterprise has created somewhat of a cult following. Housed in an old garage customers can indulge in some seriously good food, peruse shelves groaning culinary books and soak up the foodie atmosphere along with their homemade beverages.

Pies Galore: Locally Grown Gardens is an indoor farmers’ market, a fresh restaurant, and maybe most importantly, a mecca for pie lovers. The pies are gorgeous and silky with thick crusts. Chef Ron Harris bakes an average of 300 pies per week, including seasonal pies like peach, blueberry, pumpkin and apple, as ingredients allow. And even he can’t get enough of his pies—he says during the summer he eats two to three slices per day. Pie varieties include peach, blueberry, apple and sugar cream. Pies are sold whole or by the slice.
