Chef Alexa Lemley to Compete in World Food Championships
The 2016 World Food Championships will take place November 9–13 in Orange Beach, Alabama.
The competition features several categories, including barbecue, chili, sandwich, burger, dessert, bacon, seafood, steak and recipe. A winner will be named in each of the nine categories, and each of the winners will meet at what they call the “Final Table” and one of them will be named the World Food Champion and take home a prize purse of $300,000.
Central Indiana will be featured at this year’s event in the Bacon World Championship through Chef Alexa Lemley of Artisan Foodworks, an Indiana Artisan recognized business owned by Chef Lemley and her wife, Samantha Aulick, which is based out of Columbus.
Chef Lemley qualified for her spot by winning Best Sweet Bacon Dish and Best Overall Bacon Dish in Denver at the Bacon and Beer Classic on April 16, 2016 by serving “Happy Hour on a Stick,” which was a draft beer marshmallow toasted and rolled in chocolate chips, pretzels and bacon. The next weekend, Chef Alexa won Best Sweet Dish for the same bacon offering at the Bacon and Beer Classic in Boston.
She will compete against 49 other artisans at the Bacon World Championship for a $10,000 prize and for a chance to advance to the World Food Championship’s Final Table.
