Grand Opening of Market District in Carmel
The first Market District in the state of Indiana is set to open Wednesday, October 7th at 11505 N. Illinois St., Carmel. Here is a little information on the grand opening experience.
Grand opening festivities:
Indianapolis native Marc Summers, host of “Unwrapped” and executive producer of “Restaurant: Impossible” on Food Network, will participate in the grand opening celebration of the Carmel Market District. Summers will be in store on Oct. 7 to join Giant Eagle CEO Laura Karet in preparing a special dish. He will also take part in a pre-registered customer in-store appearance, including an autograph signing and trivia game show with prizes. Summers was born in Indianapolis and attended Westlane Middle School and North Central High School.

Produce
Market District’s Produce Department is a mecca of the freshest local, imported, specialty and organic fruits and vegetables found anywhere. And, there’s a lot of it. Rows and rows of the juiciest oranges and berries, crisp celery and peppers, plus arugula, fennel, watercress, you name it.
Included are more than 100 organic fruits and vegetables — a second-to-none selection that is conveniently placed and easy to find. And, Market District is big on supporting local farmers, too, bringing the flavor home with harvests from neighboring farms within 150 miles of Carmel. The colors are gorgeous, the selection tremendous and the flavor, straight-from-the-farm fresh.
Market District also offers fresh-cuts fruits and veggies in-house daily for cooking convenience and even makes fresh-squeezed juice right before customers’ eyes.
There are THOUSANDS of organic products throughout the store. Customers can choose from a broad and welcoming selection of certified organic products, not just in produce, but in groceries and dairy — as well as in the Health, Beauty & Wellness Department.
These items support a variety of healthy lifestyles, including vegetarian and vegan, as well as palates sensitive to gluten, dairy and other allergens. There is a fair amount of Fair Trade products, too.
Bakery
Market District delights in individually portioned, American and European-inspired treats that recall the elegance of teatime, and its signature sour cream crumb and all-butter brioche coffee cakes are no less indulgent.
Its popular cupcakes, fruit tarts, muffins, cookies, pies, gobs and beautiful celebration cakes are crafted in every variety you can imagine — and all frosted with Market District’s classic buttercream.
And don’t forget the breads. There’s a wide selection of artisan, whole-grain and classic loaves from French baguettes and rustic Paesano to housemade Jalapeño Cheddar and Cinnamon Swirl — as well as some special local finds.
Market District also has authentic, French-style croissants and macarons, as well as in-house fried-and-filled donuts, Italian tiramisu and housemade honey butter buns.
Restaurant
With a store full of fabulous ingredients and a team of culinary experts comes a celebration of food, called table by Market District, a full-service, deliciously distinct dining experience. Everything the Chefs cook is made with the freshest ingredients from farms, dairies, local food producers and the Market District store, where they shop each day to craft signature, inspired meals in addition to the fare on the outstanding menu. Is it Copper River salmon season? You can bet Executive Chef Bryan Ferreira is cooking up a recipe for that.
Family-friendly and food focused, table by Market District serves lunch and dinner daily and brunch on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A casual, yet creative culinary experience, table by Market District brings passion to the plate — and the palate.
The table by Market District Bar offers specialty cocktails crafted by hand with fresh ingredients. Add to that local and craft beer choices, 18 craft beers on tap, a full bottled beer and wine list with a Reserve wine list for special occasions. Diners can even stop in for after-dinner drinks and dessert.
Sweets Shop
Fun, fanciful and seriously sweet, Market District’s Sweets Shop is a chocolate lover’s dream. Everywhere you turn are the finest in European cocoa bars, artisan confections and the ecstasy of hand-dipped chocolate novelties pulled fresh from a sweet pool of rich, Belgian chocolate.
Market District dips crisp pretzel rods, Rice Krispy Treats®, Oreos®, Nutter Butters and more, with each swirled to perfection and ready to eat. They also make their own buttery fudge, fresh roast nuts, pop a lot of gourmet popcorns and spin cotton candy.
Enjoy a scoop of rich, authentic Italian gelato, travel back in time with the retro candy aisle or select hand-decorated truffles from Moonstruck. It’s one big confectionery wonderland.
