About the Author

Ady Abreu is the owner of Ady Cakes, a custom bakery in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Ady graduated from college with a degree in Industrial Engineering at the age of 20. After moving to the United States in 2000 and working for various corporations, she decided to take her life’s savings and pursue her passion for baking and cake decorating. In 2007, she opened Ady Cakes. Customers were drawn to her shop for her artistic cake creations and daring cupcakes flavors. In 2012, she competed and won the top prize on the wildly popular Food Network show, Cupcake Wars. Ady was awarded the 2012 Business Person of the Year by the Latino Chamber of Commerce and was recognized by the United States Senate, Senate of Pennsylvania, House of Representatives, US Congress, and the City of Reading for her dedication and contribution to the business community. Her work has been featured in several magazines, newspapers, and food blogs.
