The Garage Food Hall Lights Up Local with the Addition of Gaucho’s Fire
When The Garage Food Hall rolls up its doors, you’re going to find a community of Indianapolis’ best makers. They’re independently owned local and regional vendors who bring culinary talent and an eclectic mix of retail to the downtown Indy community.
One of the culinary geniuses is Gaucho’s Fire, owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Ruby and Rogerio Tregnago. What started as a food truck featuring authentic Brazilian cuisine and traditions will soon take over a 550-square-foot space in The Garage, serving up their famous steak sandwich and other flavorful sandwiches, loaded fries and more.
We had the chance to catch up with the Tregnagos and find out what Garage goers can expect when they visit the food hall.
Garage Food Hall: Why is The Garage important to boosting downtown Indianapolis?
Gaucho’s Fire: Besides the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and Mass Avenue, The Garage Food Hall at Bottleworks District will be another important connection point for locals and visitors alike who want to explore and enjoy downtown. The Garage is truly a community-focused marketplace for all to enjoy.
GFH: When customers visit you at The Garage, what is one thing they need to try or buy from you?
GF: Our chef-driven menu highlights seasonal ingredients in simple, handcrafted dishes served straight from our kitchen. Each dish is packed with flavor, but there are two must-try menu items we recommend: the first is our chimichurri fries, layered with french fries, seasoned steak, homemade chimichurri sauce and provolone cheese, and the second is a traditional dish from Brazil called Feijoada, a black bean stew mixed with beef and pork.
GFH: Outside of your own business, what maker are you most excited to try at The Garage?
GF: It is difficult to choose one over another because each business is unique at the food hall. We are excited to watch all of the vendors showcase their talents for patrons. We are on this journey together, and we are cheering each other on every step of the way.
GFH: How is The Garage making a difference for your business? How is it taking you to the next level?
GF: As a food truck serving Greater Indianapolis, we saw The Garage as the perfect opportunity to open our first brick and mortar location. The food hall is the perfect size and place for small businesses to flourish and for families to come and get a taste of our food and our culture.
