Black Girls Eating
Welcome to the podcast world and the world of powerfully brilliant black women. Black Girls Eating. A podcast created to talk about, educate and advocate for justice, black girl magic and damn good food.
Welcome co-hosts Tanorria Askew and Candace Boyd Wiley. Both active leaders in the Indianapolis food community. Both owning businesses and taking over the world. “I have been on a lot of different podcasts and had a blast every single time I was interviewed. I thought, ‘I can do this! I can host a podcast,’ and knew Candace would be the perfect co-host,” says Tanorria Askew of Tanorria’s Table. “The way we work together is magical. It happens every time we share a stage. I am so honored that we get to do it all the time and share it with a larger audience. Our shenanigans are epic!”
Tanorria and Candace Boyd Wiley of FoodLoveTog have spent a lot of time together, sharing platforms and stages. They have been co-moderators of The DiverseCity Series for Indy Women in Food since 2018 and even spoke together early on in the pandemic to members of Creative Mornings Indianapolis.
“Podcasting is such a joy for me”, says Candace. “I co-hosted a podcast years ago and I was excited to jump back into the foray with my sister-in-food, Tanorria. Our conversations are epic, and nothing goes untouched. I knew this was something we could share with the world. Black Girls Eating the podcast is us inviting you into our kitchen during a Sunday ladies only brunch.”After their first-time co-moderating, they knew they had something special and have been working towards a podcast ever since.
Black Girls Eating’s first episode went live on Monday, March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day. Tune in biweekly to hear about justice, Black girl magic, and why they have a passion for well-seasoned food. It’s guaranteed that there will be something for everyone. You’ll hear from people all over, forging their own paths in life—teachers, friends, food industry insiders, and more.Candace and Tanorria are amplifying other black and female talent by bringing Davey Asaph as their producer and engineer, special music by Klo Jane, and graphic design by Rebecca Bratz of Right Hand Design Studio.
