Supporting Local with Teter Organic Farm's CSA
Have you seen the words CSA floating around this time of the year and wondered what is a CSA? A CSA stands for community supported agriculture and a hyper local way to buy the freshest produce, meats, dairy and other locally grown, harvest and raised ingredients.
Over the years, Teter Organic Farm has grown their local community mission and have also grown their farm. With that growth comes the ability to be embedded into the community of Hamilton County and beyond. Farm Manager, Katy Rogers leads the staff to expand and promote the farm in as many ways possible creating unique engagement and educational opportunities to support fresh organic agriculture.
Their mission is to combat food insecurity, to build meaningful relationships, and educate the community on environmental stewardship. They are managing this mission with educational walks, sponsored farm to table dinners, plant sales, retreats and other events and volunteer opportunities.
They are looking to expand their CSA membership program allowing families to purchase a share of the season's best produce receiving a regular assortment of vegetables either every week or every other week.
CSA members make a commitment to share in the rewards and the risks that are inherent with farming. Their Farm Fresh Food CSA is great for people who want to know how their food is grown and try a variety of nutrient dense vegetables. Members commit to partnering with farmer to share the risks, when we experience the challenges like weather and pests.
Members provide the foundation for us to grow organic produce and contribute toward a vibrant local food scene. Together they grow fresh food, live healthier lives, and feel connected to the farm that nourishes our bodies.
