At the Indianapolis 500 with local cocktail maker Cardinal Spirits!

Indianapolis is the racing capitol of the world. Over 300,000 people will attend the track this year to watch those cars literally jet around the oval and cross the famous bricks going more than 200mph. Crazy, right? The fans, the celebrities, the food, the drinks, the music...it is a spectacle and something everyone should experience in their lifetime. Throughout the last few years we have told a few terrific stories centered around the Indy 500, and of course we have tapped into our recipe archives, worked with several local sources to produce brand new recipes and within the edible communities we have gathered even more recipes – all in the name of racing! Take a lap (pun intended) around our round up of good eats, drinks and reads.

And a little known fact – every type of milk has to be on hand for the winner. The drivers are all asked what they would drink and that is readily available if they win. Since 1956, only one driver has skipped the white stuff and drank O.J. and that winner was Emerson Fittipaldi in 1993 ... Didn't anybody tell him the tradition??? Now go make something damn good and then tell us about it! Tag @edibleindy on social media with #edibleindy500 and you could win a surprise prize pack the Tuesday after Memorial Day!
